Multichannel retailer Debenhams is outsourcing its photographic and video content to ecommerce fashion photographer Fashshot.

Fashshot is appointed to manage Debenhams’ studio, which was previously run in-house. It will now handle photography, styling and processing for the retailer.

Simon Forster, director of Debenhams.com, said outsourcing imagery would mean “better and more varied product imagery” for the Debenhams website.

He said the new arrangement would give customers more choice and allow the company to give consumers more choice and meet their expectations of product images and video. He said: “We quickly concluded that outsourcing would be the most cost-effective way to improve our imagery.”

Later this year Debenhams will bring catwalk video and 360 degree views to its website.

Lee Friend, managing director and executive producer at Fashshot, said: “Retailers want to tap into the accelerated learning our photographic and styling team experiences, having worked with multiple online retailers and brands.”
