DFS is using 3D technology to enable shoppers to get a rounded view of its products, whatever device they are using.

The sofa manufacturer and retailer has boosted the capability of its Sofa and Room Planner iPad app, using LOFT Mobile technology to show the furniture in 3D. Customers upload a photo of their room in order to see how DFS products would look and feel in their room in three dimensions.

Use of the iPad app extends in-store in conjunction with DFS’ web solution. There, the customer can work with a sales team member to choose their final sofa.

Richard Thirsk, head of online at DFS, said: “We see that both our customers and our sales teams already benefit from the iPad app. By using LOFT we are able to further enrich the experience and offer a more realistic and relevant view of our products in the home of the customer.”

“By connecting LOFT to their [DFS’] ecommerce platform,” said Pieter Aarts, chief executive of LOFT NedSense, “it has instantly become an additional sales channel, adding more value to the business of DFS.”
