Digital innovations changing the way we shop

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter we look at how commerce is changing in the light of new online innovation. We report on new research from PwC that finds shoppers turning away from shops and PCs and towards mobile devices as their device of choice. This suggests a drive towards convenience, in which buying on the move or from the sofa is trumping the need to visit a shop, or fire up the PC. That trend towards convenience is also behind Volvo Cars’ move to launch connected cars where online shopping can be stowed. We ask whether consumers are ready for this. Innovation, convenience and the changing face of retail are Views set to run across IRX 2014. In today’s IRX preview we interview Philip Smith of Trusted Shops on the perils and opportunities of cross border retail in today’s IRX 2014 preview.

We also report on the latest from retailers including Mothercare, as it bids farewell to the chief executive who was to lead the nursery retailer towards multichannel, and MandM Direct, as it reports back on new technology and a responsive website that have helped boost its mobile conversion rate. We also report on research with insights into the importance of product information.
