DPD acquires parcel business in Czechia, Slovakia

DeliveryX

DPD has acquired a parcel business which operates in Czechia and Slovakia, strengthening its last mile offering in the countries.
The carrier has bought the Czech and Slovakian subsidiaries of Geis Parcel, owned by the Geis Group. These are profitable parcel delivery businesses, which DPD says are market leaders in the general cargo sector.

As well as DPD taking over Geis’s parcel business, the two companies will work closely together in the future on unspecified initiatives.

“In this rapidly growing parcel market, we want to further develop our business to better support the development of our customers,” said Yves Delmas, COO of Europe for DPDgroup. “We are therefore very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with Geis.”

Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis, Managing Partners of the Geis Group, commented: “Now that we have been co-developing the parcel markets in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for over 25 years, it is the right time for us to hand over the parcel business to a specialised company with European coverage.

“In the future, we want to concentrate on our traditional core businesses of forwarding services, contract logistics and air and sea freight and further expand our strong market position in Central Europe.”
