DPD reveals huge interest in its ideas innovation hub Design Space

DeliveryX

DPD has revealed that its Design Space community, an app-based innovation hub it launched four months ago, has hit already hit five times the number of members the company had expected to get by the end of the year.
10,000 members are now signed up to Design Space, the idea of which is to share new ideas and insights and allow customers to shape the kind of delivery experience they would like to see in the future. Users can comment on DPD’s ideas or post their own with other members rating the ideas.

The site is reviewed by DPD to see what can be implemented, further developed or reviewed.

The functionality sits within the company’s Your DPD app which now has more than three million users in the UK.

Dwain McDonald, CEO of DPD, said a number of valuable ideas had come through already. “We only launched four months ago and have received hundreds of ideas that we are busy reviewing and, in a number of cases, already working to make them a reality. The ideas range from tiny tweaks in the way we communicate with customers to much bigger technological or infrastructural changes. Quite a few times I’ve sat there and thought; “why didn’t we think of that?”,” he said.

“At a glance we can see which ideas are really popular, what captures peoples’ imagination and of course we can see straight away if something isn’t appealing. Sometimes it reinforces our own thinking, other times it is a reality check, but it is constantly fascinating, and it is informing a lot of our future thinking,” he said.
