eBay buyers can now pick up their orders from click and collect sites run by Doddle for free.

The marketplace is piloting a service that sees customers pick up their online purchases from, initially, its flagship stores in London and Brighton. In coming months it is set to expand to all Doddle sites, including supermarket, shopping centres and charity shops.

Shoppers who have bought via eBay and opt for click and collect through Doddle will be notified when their item is ready for collection.

Jon Ford, head of shipping development at eBay , said: “Our buyers and sellers are at the heart of everything we do and we want to make shopping and selling on eBay as convenient and flexible as possible. That means providing as many ways to improve the delivery experience for buyers. We already have millions of Click & Collect enabled listings on eBay and the collaboration with Doddle will help us extend our collection footprint whilst also helping sellers on eBay to enhance their fulfilment capabilities.”

The news comes three years after Doddle first launched with its carrier-agnostic click, collect and returns service. It started out in railway stations, before expanding to sites including shopping centres. Its technology has now been developed so that its service can be offered from any location, including other retailers’ stores.

Tim Robinson, chief executive of Doddle , said: “We have a shared goal with eBay to make life easier for our customers. We’re excited to be able to offer eBay’s business and consumer sellers convenient fulfilment options for their customers and look forward to providing eBay buyers with hundreds of convenient locations to collect and return their eBay purchases at Doddle.”

Doddle’s retail clients include ASOS, M&S and Net-a-Porter.
