Ok. So I’m going to do it. I’m going to mention the one word we are all trying not to think about yet – Christmas – with the story that Doddle and Cancer Research UK are expanding their click and collect partnership across the CRUK stores in time for the festive period.
The duo are rolling out to a further 50 stores in a positive partnership which is not only delivering commercial results for Doddle but perhaps more importantly is driving footfall, brand awareness and spend into the Cancer Research stores. More than 17,000 online orders have already been picked up or returned through the Cancer Research stores showing just how powerful such a partnership can be – whilst also making parcel pick-up easier for customers.
Of course in reality Christmas will be all most retailers are thinking about currently and if it isn’t consuming much of your time already then something must be wrong. Getting things right over the coming weeks as we quickly migrate into peak season is something retailers must be focusing most of their attention on. DHL meanwhile has revealed that it is piloting delivery to VW car trunks in Berlin in an expansion of the many trials is it operating to test out the new delivery concept.
Finally this week we have the news that John Lewis is consolidating its distribution centre operations in Scotland with the closure of its Leith in Edinburgh operations next month, shifting the load instead to the company’s existing Glasgow operations there. And P2P Mailing, whose Basildon premises was destroyed by a fire last month has now confirmed the location of its replacement site after signing a ten-year lease for its new facility.
