Ecommerce sales growth subdued as the high street enjoys a boost

There's an interesting condundrum contained in today's BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor, which we report on in today's Internet Retailing newsletter. For while high street retailing appears to have lifted significantly in March, online has seen only subdued growth. This narrowing of the gap between the channels is, suggests BRC director general Helen Dickinson, potential evidence of the rise of omnichannel. Find out more in our story below.

In today's newsletter we also report on Tesco's launch of online shopping in Thailand, on Clarks' account of how it used multivariate testing to boost conversion, and ebuyer.com's adoption of a new social commerce solution that it says will help it to handle large volumes of reviews as it expands. We also report on a new study on innovation, and the role that online takes in discovering new products, and on Jewson's move into 90 minute deliveries.

Our last webinar of the month is on April 30, Stibo Systems and Bazaarvoice join forces for a webinar on Staying relevant: creating a personal shopping experience that drives sales. In the 11am webinar, speakers Aurelien Dubot, product marketing manager EMEA at Bazaarvoice, and Simon Walker, director, ecommerce innovation, Stibo Systems, will discuss why it's so important that retailers focus on their customers as they create shopping experiences that reflect both shoppers' feedback and needs. They'll be considering how to harness and learn from social data.
