Innovation, mobile, and the customer: forces that will change way we shop
The focus is firmly on innovation in today's InternetRetailing newsletter, where we take a look at the way mobile and the customer are changing the way we shop – and expect to shop. This newsletter comes to you from Demandware's customer conference in Barcelona, where we heard from Mothercare on how mobile is giving it a new way to compete: the retailer is set to trial beacons next year in a move that's part of a strategy to be different, to engage, and to compete in ways that don't involve endless price cutting to match Amazon.

Ecommerce pioneer Stephan Schambach, who founded Demandware 10 years ago, told the conference about four disruptive innovations he believed were set to change retail.

Continuing the conference theme, we also hear today from John Straw, chairman of the digital advisory board at Thomas Cook, who will be speaking at Internet Retailing Conference 2014 next week on Views including the way that it plans to do away with the 'leap of faith' that is holiday shopping, showing how its new Oculus virtual reality headset will show customers the experience before they have it.

Today we also report on how click and collect is faring on campus, how new loyalty points scheme epoints rewards works, and how Waitrose has launched a new pet website.
