EDX preview: The opportunities offered by the final mile

The last mile has always been key in the retail experience but it wasn’t so long ago it was completely out of the control of the retailer.
Today better tracking is giving visibility to both retailer and end consumer and improving the experience for both. There is now an expectation and a major shift in the focus on the last mile and higher expectations of it.

The role of visibility and tracking is the focus of Chris Haighton, head of outbound logistics at Shop Direct Group at eDelivery Expo (EDX) this March. His session, Using Visibility and Tracking as a Key Way to Differentiate Your Last Mile, takes place as a case study session within the Final Mile conference, one of two conferences taking part at EDX alongside its sister event InternetRetailing Expo (IRX) on 21-22 March.

Visibility will also be discussed by Raanan Cohen, cofounder and CEO of Bringg in his & Steps to Building State of the Art Delivery Operations presentation.

Best practise in same day delivery – and therefore also final mile – will also be discussed by Nigel Blunt, head of operations development at Sainsbury’s Argos who will explain the ROI and customer engagement benefits it offers.

And finally, the last mile will also be a key focus of an exciting retailer panel discussion in the afternoon of the Final Mile Conference which will look at how delivery and customer convenience will change by 2020 and what needs to be done now to prepare.

Ensure you book your place at EDX as soon as possible to learn more about best practise in the final mile.
