Delivery firm FedEx has taken part in Action for Children’s Byte Night sleepout event for the fifth year in a row, delivering supplies for the national event as well as joining in on the night itself.
As part of the FedEx Cares programme team members delivered 20 pallets of items needed for the sponsored event to ten locations across the UK. The items, which included umbrellas, beanie hats and beanie survival bags, were collected from the Action for Children office in Watford and then delivered to 10 locations where the sleepouts were taking place across the UK. These included St John’s Churchyard in London, the Bristol Science Centre and the Principality Stadium in Wales.
As well as delivering the goods needed for the event staff from FedEx also joined the 200 volunteers spending a night on the streets on Friday 7 October in aid of the Byte Night sponsored sleepout event. Four team members from FedEx joined other volunteers to spend a night on the streets of Birmingham, Cambridge and Newcastle, raising £2,000 in the process.
“Having worked with Action for Children for more than five years it’s clear that our help and support is needed more than ever and it gives me tremendous pleasure to see our team members getting involved,” said Jim Hawkins, managing director operations at FedEx UK and Ireland.
