Julie Meyer, co-founder of First Tuesday, a BBC Online Dragon and chief executive of Ariadne Capital, and John Butler, head of communications and media at Dunnhumby, the company behind the hugely successful Tesco Clubcard loyalty programme, will be among the keynote speakers at the new Internet Retailing Expo (IRX).

Butler will take a close look at how to monetise social commerce in a keynote speech in the Internet Retailing Evolution Conference, for larger businesses, while Meyer will open the Internet Retailing Insights Conference, aimed at SME retailers.

The two ecommerce industry heavyweights will be speaking alongside experts from online and multichannel retailers as diverse as Debenhams, Kiddicare, Tesco, eBay, Comic Domain, Mobile Fun and Charles Tyrwhitt.

The event, which launches this year, will be held on March 23 and 24 at Birmingham’s NEC and will feature two conferences, a mobile and social retailing zone, and Internet Retailing’s signature JumpStart events, running alongside a exhibition that is expected to attract some 120 exhibitors.

The Internet Retailing Evolution Conference is designed around the needs of larger online and multichannel businesses, while the Internet Retailing Insights Conference is for small and medium-sized businesses, eBay PowerSellers and ‘the Amazons of tomorrow’.

Ian Jindal, editor-in-chief of Internet Retailing, said: “Ecommerce has been changing retail for the last five years and just as UK consumers are taking to the web in compelling numbers, mobile commerce and social retailing provide further disruption and opportunity.

“In 2011 grasp these opportunities. If you are already selling online, our IRX exhibitors and two conference streams will stimulate your business so that you can remain competitive. If you are new to multichannel opportunities we’ve gathered in one location all of the suppliers, insights and help so you compete with the best in the shortest time.”

IRX is for existing online and multichannel retailers and those new to ecommerce and brings together suppliers, information and expert advice. Key sponsors include PayPal, Amazon Services Europe and the Royal Mail.

Visitors can book their free tickets now at www.internetretailingexpo.com, where they can also make appointments with exhibitors and find out more about the speakers, conferences and workshops.

In coming weeks we’ll be taking an in-depth look at all that IRX has to offer, through its conferences, learning zones and more and we’ll also be talking to some of the key speakers at the event.
