Games Workshop logistics hub to open in East Midlands

Games Workshop is building a new distribution centre in the East Midlands.
The model manufacturer and retailer’s new 177,500 square foot facility will supplement its existing distribution operation in Nottingham.

It is sited at SEGRO’s logistics hub, which became operational with first customer Kuehne & Nagel in April 2019.

The hub is located within 20 miles of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, with links to East Midlands airport, the M1 motorway and a potential workforce of one million people within 30 minutes’ drive. From 2020 it will also be served by a rail freight terminal operated by Maritime Intermodal.

Fellow retailers Amazon and ShopDirect are other occupants, as well as logistics companies such as XPO Logistics.

Details of when the development would be completed were not shared.

Andrew Pilsworth, SEGRO’s Business Unit Director, National Logistics, said:

“This leasing represents another significant milestone for SLPEMG, representing further evidence of demand for space, and the pace at which we are able to deliver it.

“We have now contracted almost 3 million sq ft of space across the site, with the relocation of Games Workshop exemplifying the range of occupiers attracted to the park.”

DHL is another SEGRO customer, housing its carbon-neutral DC at its Newham site.
