US fashion label Gap is now selling online in the UK – and is welcoming potential new shoppers with a free delivery offer.

Visitors to Gap’s website are currently met with a ‘Hello UK’ message and the offer of free delivery on orders over £50. Shoppers can buy from both the Gap and Banana Republic ranges.

Gap is also offering a 15% discount for those who add their name to its mailing list.

Gap has long been known for its investment into ecommerce. It has been selling online in the United States since 1997. But until now there has been no internet retailing for the UK market.

It’s launching into a healthy growing market – and no doubt the buoyancy of the UK online market has helped make the investment a reality. And its nearness to the nine European markets that the site is also set to serve should also prove a real advantage for the US chain.
