Meal-kit subscription business HelloFresh is adding cookery lessons to its range with the launch of HelloFresh Skills, a range of guided recipes designed to build culinary confidence and develop new skills, particularly for younger customers.
It follows research from the company that found half (51%) of Brits want to feel more confident in the kitchen.
HelloFresh Skills will initially educate customers on six different skill types – batter, baking, dough, protein, potato and sauce – aiming to improve their techniques and increase confidence. Each recipe is rated by difficulty. The recipes include maple bacon butter fried chicken and waffles, Basa en Papillote and sun-dried tomato butter and Gochujang chicken and homemade scissor-cut short noodles.
The HelloFresh commissioned research found that almost half (46%) of UK parents are worried their teenage children will leave home without basic cooking skills. Two-thirds (67%) still cook all their teenagers’ meals, with a quarter (25%) of youngsters unable to cook a simple pasta dish.
Philip Doran, CEO of HelloFresh UK & Ireland, said: “As a company, we’re always looking at how we can improve the customer experience and what more we can bring to the table for them. Whether our customers are kitchen novices or cooking pros, with our new Skills recipes, we want to provide a variety of techniques and lessons to help enhance their skills further and make mealtimes and cooking fun.”
