GSI Commerce, a provider of end-to-end ecommerce solutions that operates on a shared revenue model, will develop and operate international online stores for the Helly Hansen retail group in eight European countries as well as the United States and Canada.

The sites will launch in early 2010 and will be Helly Hansen’s first move to sell merchandise directly online.

GSI will provide web technology, order processing and call centre services for each store under the agreement, which runs until 2018. Web stores will be tailored to the specific country in which they operate and country specific components will be localised. The sites will be built in several languages and five currencies.

“E-commerce is hugely important to us and a key aspect of our strategy for international growth,” says Peter Sjølander, CEO at Helly Hansen. “GSI Commerce has a terrific reputation in the marketplace for providing e-commerce services to leading brands. After evaluating all of the alternatives, GSI was the clear winner.

“GSI’s leading capabilities covering both Europe and North America gives us confidence that our web stores will consistently delight our customers in those geographies,” he added.
