Hermes rolls out SafePlace Photo and geofencing service following trial

DeliveryX

Hermes UK has confirmed the rollout of its SafePlace Photo and geo-fencing parcel location service after its initial trial earlier this year.
The service, combined with location tracking through Hermes’ handheld terminals, allows retailers and their end consumers to see photographic evidence of delivery as well as co-ordinates of parcels left in a safe location. Via geo-fencing customers retailers are provided with a location and map of where parcels have been delivered, within a radius of 10 metres minimum.

Images of items being delivered will be taken by Hermes couriers through their existing handheld terminals. The photos will then be received by the retailers involved, with the option of having them automatically uploaded into their CRM systems. Hermes claims the service will increase first-time deliveries and reduce incoming contact centre enquiries, as well as allow them more evidence to reject fraudulent claims of non-delivery.

SafePlace Photo and geo-fencing form part of Hermes’ Digital Futures strategy, a £55m project that prioritises customer experience through investment in innovation and technology. Further developments coming as part of the strategy later this year include a new website with updated tracking options and a refreshed app.

Martijn de Lange, CEO of Hermes UK, said: “SafePlace Photo combined with geo-fencing is the latest of our Digital Futures updates that reflects our vision to become the carrier of choice for every end consumer in the UK. It’s so important to take every opportunity to increase transparency throughout the parcel journey to continue to enhance the customer experience, and SafePlace Photo plus geo-fencing will help us and our clients to achieve this.”
