Hermes seeks developers and UX experts for Leeds ‘tech hub’

DeliveryX

Hermes is seeking to recruit 50 new IT specialists for its tech hub in Leeds.
The new 6500 square foot location in the centre of Leeds will bring together new and existing employees to support innovation and digital strategy.

As well as relocating employees from other offices, the delivery company is recruiting specialists in user experience, as well as developers and testers.

Details of specific initiatives that will take place at the site are not currently available, but the site could focus on either customer-facing or internal technology projects. For example, last year saw the firm introduce an app for couriers.

Chris Ashworth, CIO at Hermes, said: “We are very excited to be opening our new Tech Hub in the city centre of Leeds, which is quickly growing into the UK’s leading technology centre outside of London.

“At a time of economic uncertainty, we are committed to further investing in our future, and this vibrant office will play a key role in that. It provides us with the perfect opportunity to attract the very best talent from across the north of England, who will each be given the freedom to make a real impact on our evolving business.”

The delivery company recently added a semi-automated carousel system to one of its biggest distribution hubs, claiming it will increase productivity by 30%. The new system, which the company says is worth £1 million, is designed to process larger items at the company’s Midlands Super Hub in Rugby.
