In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re taking a close look at how some of our leading multichannel retailers are approaching Christmas, and working out what the strategy behind those approaches are.

In particular, we’re taken by Argos’ approach to taking the heat out of Black Friday, while what’s become an annual ritual, the launch of the John Lewis Christmas ad, gives us much to think about with regards to customer engagement. We’re also thinking beyond Black Friday, and today consider the importance of China’s Singles Day, and ways that UK retailers can approach 11/11.

Today we also report on M&S‘ fast-growing online sales, we interview Noelia Guinón of Swedish sportwear brand Björn Borg, while our guest comment today comes from Simon Black, chief executive of the PPRO Group, who considers the role of payment in the advent of connected commerce.

Our webinars

In our next webinar, we’re joined by etailer Björn Borg as well as Bronto Software and Vaimo for an in-depth conversation on how to use data to best target your customers and keep them coming back.
