How leading retailers are approaching uncertain times

If the aftermath of the Brexit vote has been marked by one prevailing view, it’s one of uncertainty, and in today’s InternetRetailing newsletter we’re not surprised to find that two-thirds of UK retailers don’t know what will happen as a result of the vote. That’s according to a new study from VoucherCodes, which also finds that retailers are also facing uncertainty because of the speed at which the way we shop is changing. Most say they don’t even know what skills retail staff will need in five years time. All this makes it hard to plan.

Investing in technology is an answer for many of those taking part in the survey, and today we report as leading retailers French Connection and Ocado share insights into the way they’re using technology as they move towards that uncertain future.

Today we have upbeat news from IMRG and Capgemini, reporting buoyant August sales, which particularly benefitted multichannel retailers, while today’s preview of IRC 2017 focuses on the workshop schedule, which provides opportunities to learn more about technology and how it might help your ecommerce or multichannel business in areas from payments to mobile and fulfillment.

IRC 2017

The InternetRetailing Conference, taking place in London on October 5, is the 12th annual edition of the event and this year focuses on energising retail. It runs alongside sister event the eDelivery Conference, and will be held at the Novotel, Hammersmith, London.
