The newly published UK Growth 1000 report looks at how jeweller Missoma puts the emphasis on sustainability. The retailer bills its products as sustainably made, since they are made from responsibly sourced materials, including 100% certified recycled gold and silver. Orders are then delivered through carbon neutral channels.
The jewellery brand shares its sustainability approach, policies and goals on its website. These include using sustainable materials and circular design, while using climate tech platform Vaayu to offset carbon from its deliveries and returns.
Missoma also invests in environmental projects in Peru, Kenya and Cambodia, through the Choose climate solution business. It is one of the 7% of Growth 1000 retailers that outline their sustainability policies on their website and one of 6% that provide updates on their policies.
Missoma has four of its own stores – three in London and one in Leeds – which puts it above the UK Growth 1000 average of 3.08. However, it uses an array of third-party stockists to expand its physical presence to 67 stores around the world – including 13 in North America and 32 in Europe.
Missoma is one retailer in the UK Growth 1000 which stand out because of how they convert value into profit and expansion, while engaging with customers through mobile apps, stores and by improving their websites. In doing so, they attract more traffic that, ultimately, results in higher profitability.
