How retail innovation is giving customers new levels of service

In today’s InternetRetailing, we report on the way retailers, both traditional and newcomers to commerce, are innovating as they look to give the customer the convenience and ease of shopping that they want. We report on Amazon as it launches its Pantry members-only grocery delivery service, and on Livingetc as it launches its own shop on marketplace

We also tell how Travis Perkins and Majestic Wine are improving their omnichannel and customer service as they look to do the same. Then we report on an LCP Consulting report that says a third of retailers say Black Friday is both unprofitable and unsustainable. That may well be the case, but, as the report also points out, it seems very likely that Black Friday is here to stay. Retailers will decide whether Black Friday works for them but inevitably retailers that ensure their systems link in an effective and efficient way across channels will deliver their customers increased satisfaction.

Today’s guest comment comes from Guillaume Le Mener of Tektronix Communications, who considers how traders can best use mobile data to improve the shopping experience.
