Ikea has become the latest retailer to apologise for stock shortages due to supply chain issues caused by by various impacts on the retail industry, with reports that up to 1,000 product lines are being affected.
“Like many retailers, we’re experiencing some challenges with our supply and are therefore experiencing some availability issues,” the company says in a statement to customers on its website. The retailer says it’s being hit hard by a combination of pandemic and societal factors impacting the transport industry, raw materials and sourcing and production but says it is working hard to restock goods and get them back onto shelves.
The shortages have been heightened thanks to higher customer demand as a result of customers spending more time at home, leading to low availability of some home ranges, including mattresses, the company has said.
