British convenience store and famed consumer co-operative, Co-op, is poised to roll out its first dedicated online and mobile optimised grocery shop and home delivery service.

The new service at https://shop.coop.co.uk was soft launched on March 22, with customers in central London being the first to be able to shop for Co-op groceries online and have them home delivered in less than two hours.

Co-op’s new online service and ecommerce operations run on Finnish tech company Digital Goodie’s Connected Commerce platform, a software as a service (SaaS) product, designed to enable retailers to run and grow their businesses online and connect their stores to the digital world seamlessly.

Co-op has deployed Digital Goodie’s Commerce and Fulfillment solutions including a personalised ecommerce website, a fulfillment solution enabling super-fast home deliveries and efficient connections to payment and logistics providers.

The new Co-op online shop and delivery service enables shoppers to order products at https://shop.coop.co.uk, and receive delivery within two hours at a convenient allocated time. The service is first available to shoppers within a four kilometre radius of a store on the King’s Road in London, before being rolled out to a further eight London stores. Co-op’s plan is to make online shopping available in a significant number of other UK towns and cities in the near future.

Co-op’s objective with the new online service and home delivery is to bring its award-winning products closer to shoppers by strengthening its digital services.

Chris Conway, Head of Food Digital at the Co-op, comments: “Our new online shop and delivery service is an essential part of our expanding digital services to our customers. In this project, we have been very excited to work together with a modern and agile technology company such as Digital Goodie. The newly launched service is a result of our fruitful cooperation and agile development.”

Moris Chemtov, Global CEO of Digital Goodie, adds: “We are extremely proud to partner with Co-op in the UK to help them improve their customer experience, and their digital transformation. Co-op’s strong focus on digitalization and their agile approach to development puts them in a perfect position to deploy new online services. Our mission is to help retailers make their ecommerce simple, by connecting the online and brick and mortar channels to one seamless and simple user experience. Working with Co-op to make this happen for their customers has been a privilege for us. Also, having such a high profile customer like Co-op on board, will enable us to deploy our platform more widely around the world.”

Digital Goodie’s customers include some of the world’s leading retailers in Scandinavia, in the Baltic region and now in the UK. The company has built the entire digital shopping experience for Finland’s largest retailer S Group with more than a million consumers using Digital Goodie’s retail cloud shopping solution in the country. For Digital Goodie, the partnership with Co-op is an important expansion in one of the most advanced online grocery markets in the world.
