Condé Nast to launch ecommerce division to explore new opportunities

Magazine publisher Condé Nast is to launch an ecommerce division as it looks to explore new commercial horizons brought by the emergence of new technology and the growth of online retail.

It has hired from the world of retail, appointing Franck Zayan (pictured), currently responsible for ecommerce at Paris department store Galeries Lafayette, to lead the new division, which will be based in London. He starts work in the new role on January 6.


“The scope of our brands and the revolution in technology are bringing about new opportunities in the ecommerce space,” said Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and chief executive of Condé Nast International. “It will be Franck’s responsibility to explore and develop ideas which can serve our readers, users, advertising clients and business partners.”

Before joining Galeries Lafayette as internet and ecommerce director, Zayan ran an ecommerce consulting business. He had previously founded, operated and sold his own online shoe retailer and before running an ecommerce consultancy business.

Zayan said he was delighted to be joining Condé Nast. “With its famous brands and strong digital presence, there is enormous potential to develop business in the ecommerce field.”
