International ecommerce suppliers are expanding into the UK in order to establish a presence in a “vibrant” market.

In the last week both Apptus Technologies, the Swedish intelligent search and behavioural merchandising solutions company, and Volusion, the US shopping cart software and services business, have announced the opening of their London offices.

Both are moving to the city in order to be nearer to local customers and partners.

Apptus’ office will be led by UK regional manager David Murphy, who aims to expand the market for Apptus eSales, which learns from past customer behaviour to personalise search, navigation, recommendations and campaigns. The company describes the UK as a “vibrant market”.

Apptus chief executive Michel Mokhberi said: “It is very important for Apptus to have a presence in the ecommerce arena in the UK in order for us to meet the market demands we are facing. There is a strong ecommerce talent pool in the UK and we are hiring local people to staff up the office so that we can serve our clients in the best way possible.”

Volusion announced the opening of its office today. It will be led by David House, senior sales manager, whose responsibilities will include creating strategic partnerships and raising brand awareness. Volusion’s ecommerce solutions are integrated with SagePay.

Its chief executive Kevin Sproles said: “The UK is one of the world’s hot beds for digital innovation and is a key market in Volusion’s ongoing global expansion. There is a strong appetite locally for easy to use SaaS solutions, so we anticipate strong demand for our services. We look forward to helping UK and European customers achieve competitive advantage through their ecommerce efforts.”
