David Walmesley, director of e-commerce at DSGi and Dave Hughes, director at Marks & Spencer are to be the keynote speakers at the Internet Retailing 2010 Conference.

They will open the one-day conference, to be held on October 12 at the Novotel in Hammersmith, London.

David Walmesley took on his role at DSGi, owner of UK brands including Currys, PC World and Dixons after leading Johnlewis.com to create an award-winning shopping experience. Dave Hughes is responsible for online and other direct selling channels at Marks & Spencer. His previous experience includes time at KPMG, Sainsbury’s and Intercontinental Hotels.

Beyond our keynote speakers we have three conference streams running alongside each other. In Track One, speakers from businesses including Royal Mail, Lovefilm and my-wardrobe.com will address ways of Captivating the Customer.

In Track Two, Reaping What you Sow, we’ll have representatives of Boden, Tesco.com and Argos, among others, focusing on the e-commerce investment that reap real rewards. And in Track Three, Making Cross-Channel Work, we’ll be looking, with help from speakers from Elucid Sanderson, Sage Pay and Euromonitor at the way small improvements can have a powerful effect on your overall process.

This year we also have a strong line-up of eight workshops, featuring leaders in the e-commerce industry from Udayan Bose, founder and chief executive of NetElixir to Shane Fitzpatrick, EU managing director of Chase Paymentech.

More than than 40 exhibitors, covering a wide variety of aspects of internet retailing, will also be part of a free exhibition running alongside the conference. For a full list visit the Internet Retailing 2010 Conference website at www.screenevents.co.uk/IR2010.

Ian Jindal, editor-in-chief of Internet Retailing, said: “In a world not short of conferences, we’ve honed the IR format over the years to make the most of our senior delegates’ time – the most precious commodity. As business people ourselves we’ve listened to our delegates’ wishes: keep it short, keep it sales-free, focus on retailing commercials, and allow time for me to meet peers. Then format to an intense, single day, with the best speakers focusing upon their expert learning and insight.

“Post keynote session, we split into three streams, giving a vast range of options for all interests. Best of all, the whole conference is available post-event on video to delegates so that you really can be in many places at once. Add to which the compact format – conference halls, select exhibition and refreshments all set round a single area – maximise the time and opportunity for networking and idea exchange. Now in its fifth year we’ve put everything into making IR2010 the best investment of conference-attending time this year.”

Internet Retailing 2010 is for business people in retail. Last year it attracted top level executives from pure play, multi-channel and bricks and mortar retailers, along with suppliers and analysts. Among last year’s speakers was Robin Terrell, then-MD of John Lewis Direct and now executive director, multichannel and international at House of Fraser. After last year’s conference he commented: “It’s the only one I go to and stay all day.”

Booking for the conference is now open. An early bird rate of £295 plus VAT, is available until July 1 only. The rate then rises to £495 plus VAT. For more details or to reserve a place click here.
