Fashion retailer Jacques Vert is overhauling its IT systems in order to improve its ecommerce operations.

The company, behind brands including Jacques Vert, Planet, Precis Petite and Windsmoor, plans to launch a clearance website as part of investment in its online platform and related systems over the next 18 months.

The company ships a varied mix of products from the Far East and Europe to its UK central warehouse or direct to stores in Canada in what can be a complex process since different countries and sales channels often require a varied mix of products.

In order to improve its planning of merchandising and management of its supply chain, Jacques Vert will introduce Retail Assist’s Merret solution, with Maple Lake’s QuickAssortment merchandise and assortment planning software early 2011. Using these, Jacques Vert aims to reduce lead times through more accurate sales data and working more closely with suppliers.

Ian Johnson, group finance director at Jacques Vert, said: “We need to be more reactive and operate a more effective supply chain to remain ahead of the competition. This means continually monitoring trends and identifying best sellers so that popular lines can be quickly replenished throughout the season.”
