John Lewis & Partners is allowing another retailer to make use of the Waitrose click and collect network for the first time in a trial with Boden.
Customers of the fashion retailer will be able to collect items from 30 Waitrose supermarkets. The available locations, which span the UK, will be listed on the Boden website.

Orders placed by 7PM will be available to collect by the end of the following working day.

According to John Lewis, click and collect orders have increased more than 50%. 57% of all online orders are fulfilled through the service, with 75% of them collected from Waitrose shops.

Bérangère Michel, partner and operations director, John Lewis & Partners, said: “We were one of the first to launch a Click & Collect service at scale in the UK and we’re pleased that the service will now be used by other businesses.

“This is a great example of how we are combining the capabilities of John Lewis and Waitrose to deliver what retail needs, at a time when the sector is changing at an extraordinary pace.”

Gav Thompson, chief customer officer at Boden, said: “This is a new way of shopping Boden and the perfect collaboration, designed around convenience and ease.”

Notably it is the Waitrose network rather than the John Lewis one which has been made available, meaning that there is no overlap between the products Boden customers will be collecting and those that they can purchase in store.

John Lewis will hope that it can lure Boden shoppers to pick up grocery items while in store. According to research by click and collect company HubBox, 27% of click and collect customers will make an additional purchase when collecting an item in store.
