In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re covering the latest news from ecommerce and multichannel retailers of all sizes. We report as Joules plots a stockmarket flotation to finance multichannel expansion, as Amazon launches a new pan-European fulfillment programme which it says will help SMEs export across the EU and as Avenue 32 moves to a new ecommerce platform, supported by managed services.

We also consider the direction of travel that this industry is moving in, with reports that suggest 74% of IRUK Top100 retailers don’t follow up on abandoned carts, and that one in four workers now takes regular deliveries of their personal online orders at work – four per cent of companies have taken on more staff to handle the explosion in volumes.

Today’s guest comment comes from Chris Cullen of Echo Managed Services, who warns that retailers should not sacrifice human interaction to technology when it comes to customer contact.
