Majestic Wine is to allow customers to shop for same-day, click and collect or home delivery directly from the stock of their individual local store.
The new Shop Local service will effectively give each of Majestic Wine’s 200 stores their own individual website. This will allow customers to view only the product ranges and stock levels of their nearest Majestic store before placing their orders.
Each of the stores also has their own social media account, which will combine with the Shop Local proposition.
Majestic Wine CEO John Colley said the new service would have a number of advantages, including reduced risk of delivery challenges. “It not only helps us to curate our offer even further to our stores, it also helps us to build VIP relationships with customers across all channels – online, in-store and over the phone,” he said.
“It also gives us more control over those relationships and reduces the risk of an order potentially going wrong due to national distribution issues.”
Majestic Wine gained more than 350,000 new customers in 2020, with online sales expanding by 300% during the pandemic, the company reported last week.
