A new Christmas promotion from bol.com will allow children to interact with Santa Claus through a voice assistant integrated into its mobile app.

Children will be able to interact with Santa Claus through Google Assistant and generate a personalised story created by Dutch children’s author Thaïs Vanderheyden.

Participants use the command “Hey Google, talk to bol.com” to initiate the story. They then provide information such as where they live, with the application generating a tailored version of a narrative incorporating local landmarks from their neighbourhood in which they have to help Santa find his assistant Black Peter (Zwarte Piet).

Children that take part will receive a free ebook and a diploma by email.

The campaign will help raise awareness of the bol app’s integration with the Dutch version of Google Assistant, introduced in October 2018. Through the app, customers can use voice control to compile a wish list and generate ideas for gifts.

bol.com recently added a sustainable-only page to its store, selling 6500 items with independent sustainability labels which have been validated by Dutch information organisation Milieu Centraal.
