Music lovers’ social mobile site Flowd – which connects fans to their favourite artists in a kind of mobile social media app like way – has added a whole new dimension of rewards for fans using mobile coupons and location triggers as part of a range of enhancements to the service.

These enhancements give artists control to reward their fans with mobile coupons issued by a number of different trigger options. These triggers include location-based check-in through the mobile app, event check-in through the app, following an artist, posting to an artist’s wall and much more. These mobile coupons can also be awarded as part of a competition with randomly selected winners or as a reward for everyone participating.

Music artists are rapidly viewing Flowd’s Frequent Fans platform as an ideal tool to drive action and purchase amongst their biggest fans. Recent examples of the Frequent Fans platform in action include discount coupons by Armin van Buuren for recently released albums, a mobile coupon by Britney Spears for a free copy of her Til the World Ends single which could be redeemed at Sony Music’s online store and an exclusive track Connected by DJ Alex M.O.R.P.H. available only through Flowd. New major artists are now on board to release their first Offers using the Frequent Fans platform on Flowd.

For fans, this means that they will get access to exclusive rewards just by interacting with their favourite artists on Flowd. Other features that improve the user experience on the mobile app include YouTube and Soundcloud integrations, so fans can watch and listen to their favourite artist’s latest tracks without leaving Flowd. Flowd’s website has also been comprehensively updated to provide a cleaner look and make it easier to learn more about the artists and events happening through Flowd. Since the new features on the site have rolled out, interaction through the website has increased with the overall time spent on the site nearly doubling.

Music fans can download Flowd for free from the iTunes App Store, Android Market and Nokia Ovi store. Fans can find their favourite bands under Artists and get regular news, views and photos by following them. Fans can also discover more about artists’ upcoming gigs by clicking on Events on the artist’s profile, listen to their latest tracks and watch their latest videos under Music.

By using Flowd, music fans can also use a wide range of social networking features including check-in to places, send messages, share pictures and connect with friends through Twitter and Facebook. Fans can also customize the look and feel of Flowd by re-skinning the app with artists’ themes. Flowd allows music fans to keep up to date with artists’ news and views, track and check-in to latest gigs and appearances and view photos and videos.

Artists can also reward their fans for their loyalty by using Flowd’s Frequent Fans tool. This provides artists with a comprehensive marketing tool that allows them to issue tailored Offers to fans through in-app mobile coupons. Flowd will be rolling out new features to its Frequent Fans tool over the next six months.
