Mobile POS system cuts queues and delivers rapid ROI, says App Master

Cutting queues at checkout and offering a personal shop floor sales service are two of the key benefits being touted by Paymaster, a new mobile shop floor solution that, using a clip in case, turns an iPhone into a portable point of sale (POS) and CRM solution for retailers.

Developed by App Masters in the US, the system uses a bar code scanner, card reader and software solution built into a clip-on iPhone or iPod touch case to offer retailers who have sales force on the shop floor the ability to not only offer stock and price check,s but also to allow for full check out from wireless devices, cutting queues and offering an unprecedented level of personal service.

The system, which App Master claims pays for itself within 8 months, is connected to the retailer’s existing POS system, can be integrated into any stock and CRM platforms being used and connects, wirelessly to both til drawers and receipt printers. It is all menu driven from the unit’s touch screen.

According to the company, transactions take only moments, allowing sales associates the opportunity to up-sell. They can also accept any combination of cash, credit, gift cards, and store-branded cards. The system
can rapidly scan all universal barcodes using integrated laser scanner and retailers can 
apply discounts, product warranties or recycling fees.

At the point of purchase, the associate can quickly process a guest’s request for instant credit with an abbreviated electronic application
and even choose a merchandise delivery option, if appropriate.

The solution is also being sold as a way to not only cut queues and improve customer service, but is being shown to also cut theft and fraud as shop assistants are on hand, on the floor, to watch and talk to customers at all times.
