New report from Developer Economics shows that 67% of developers are currently using Android and 59% using Apple’s iOS as the Google-backed operating system steams ahead of the iPhone in terms of useage and handset numbers.

That said, Apple has overtaken MicroSoft in the pecking order. The study also finds that 55% of developers are building apps written in HTML or JavaScript.

‘Developer Economics 2011’, is being billed by its founders BlueVia and Vision Mobile, as the quintessential mobile developer research report. The second annual report explores both what drives developer mindshare and how brands are fast-forwarding into the world of mobile.
