PizzaExpress has joined the growing number of restaurants to roll out an app, offering an iPhone app that, amongst other things, gives customers the option to pay their bill automatically via their Smartphone.
The new app is ideal for diners with limited time; whether they are late for a meeting, the theatre or the train, or eating out with restless kids. PizzaExpress’ new payment option is set to take the stress out of waiting to pay the bill, allowing customers to pay and leave the restaurant when they want to.
While the new app will not take anything away from the well-known PizzaExpress customer experience or its famed customer service; it will make a tangible difference to the PizzaExpress dining experience and tackles the real issue of waiting to pay the bill in a restaurant. The app marks a sea change in retail payment methods in the retail industry; while bringing PayPal online payments to the UK high street for the first time.
So whether it’s a quick lunch, business meeting or a meal with kids who are getting restless, the app gives customers the option of paying their bill in less than a minute* at any stage of their meal.
The new PizzaExpress iPhone app, now available (from 16th June), is free to download from the Apple app store and can be used in its 370 UK restaurants across the country.
The launch will be supported by a company-wide roll-out of free WiFi via The Cloud and revolutionary new electronic point of sale facilities that will enable a seamless transition to the new payment system for customers.
With the help of PayPal, the safer, faster and easier online payment system the app allows PizzaExpress to satisfy growing customer demand for greater personalisation and control of their dining experience.
The new app also enables customers to find and book a restaurant table, view menus, and store special offer codes and receipts, all via the touch of their iPhone.
Cameron McLean, General Manager, Merchant Services at PayPal, says: “Over a million UK PayPal customers have made a payment on their handset so combining our payments experience with PizzaExpress’s ground breaking app should be a perfect combination. The line between the high street and the online world is blurring, and innovative brands like PizzaExpress recognise that payment by mobile makes a great service even better.”
