Monsoon makes an extra £1.4m in the first month of its ship-from-store project

Monsoon says it has made £1.4m in extra revenue in the first month of its ship-from-store project.

The fashion retailer, ranked Top150 in IRUK Top500 research, now operates a Fashion Finder service that gives online shoppers access to stock from its stores when items are sold out online. By doing so, its stores effectively become satellite warehouses for the online operation.

On one day alone, the service, which operates using technological from stock unification specialist OneStock, meant Monsoon could fulfil 8,067 extra orders. Customers were told that their order – which would otherwise have been out of stock – would be fulfilled by a store. Intelligent algorithms assign orders to stores based on the shortest time to delivery and maximum profitability.

“Ship from store is a transformational project for out business, an important milestone on the road to becoming a fully integrated omnichannel retailer,” said Paul Allen, chief executive at Monsoon Accessorize. “We’ve been extremely pleased with the large number of orders and satisfied customers we’ve been able to serve thanks to Fashion Finder. It’s now time to look at other customer journeys – click and collect and order in store – and benefit from the synergy with Ship from Store so that we increase customer satisfaction and optimise our fulfilment operation.”

Monsoon connected OneStock omnichannel technology to its existing ERP and delivery partner systems. it also uses its cloud-based portal to improve in-store stock accuracy, reporting when products can’t be shipped because they’ve been reserved by a customer, or are marked down or missing. 

“By unifying store and warehouse stocks, Monsoon is improving the shopping experience, optimising the flow of its inventory and increasing online sales,” said Romulus Grigoras, chief executive at OneStock. “Stock unification is tomorrow’s retail standard – it also allows retailers to sell more products at full price, reducing the need for unseasonal discounting.”
