Monsoon opens vintage pop-up boutique on Portobello Road

Monsoon store front

Monsoon has opened the doors to its boutique on Portobello Road, London, celebrating its 50th anniversary, where its journey began.

Down the road from its Portobello Road market stall five decades ago, the pop-up store will be selling rare vintage treasures from Monsoon and other designers from the era.

Prices range from £30-£450, with the average price around £80, and for a limited time customers are able to shop in the retro pop-up, which features vintage art and velvet armchairs.

The pop-up also displays archive campaigns, including rare shoots with James Bond actress Jane Seymour.

The store has been curated by stylist Bay Garnett, referred to as the ‘Queen of Thrift’ and ex-fashion editor for British Vogue, who has chosen a series of vintage pieces.

“Not many fashion retailers can celebrate 50 years in the business, that’s why I am excited to be a creative collaborator on the Monsoon Vintage pop-up boutique,” Garnett said.

“A love of vintage is in my DNA, so it’s been a joy to curate pieces that chart the fashion heritage of Monsoon through the decades. Trends come and go, but this singular and independent brand has remained committed to free-spirited style over five decades.”
