The United Kingdom Warehouse Association (UKWA) has created a Technology Advisory Board to help the logistics industry better implement technology that will improve processes and operational efficiency.
The board will develop and deliver advice and best practise guidance and is the first time that the UKWA has had an internal advisory board in place to focus on technology within the industry, despite the fact a number of other boards are already in place to help guide the industry on other matters.
“With solutions ranging from general IT systems and automated packing solutions through to ecommerce and delivery solutions, technology is playing an increasingly critical role in the sector,” said the UKWA’s CEO Peter Ward.
He said the first meeting would be hosted by Microsoft at the company’s London-based UK head office on 8 February and will consider the importance of cloud technology to the logistics industry with particular emphasis on the ways in which the sector can harness the cloud to manage rapidly emerging B2B ecommerce demands.
Led by Maginus the meeting will also include other UKWA member companies and invited contributors from the retailing and manufacturing sectors.
“UKWA is committed to bringing together technology innovators and thought leaders to share expertise and develop a clear best practise pathway for the logistics industry,” said Ward.
