In a move that may send shivers down the spine of many a high street retailer, Shopping.com, a pioneer in online shopping comparison, is extending what it does into the real-time shopping world with, yep you guessed it, an iPhone app.

The free application is the next phase in shopping.com’s mission to change the way consumers shop, helping them make informed purchasing decisions by giving them access to product information, reviews and price comparisons wherever they are.

The new product harnesses the growing demand among consumers to use the mobile web to research products while in store, as well as to compare pricing to online stores, ensuring they get the best deal possible.

Giving access to thousands of products, the application will also enable users to read unbiased product reviews, written by shopping.com customers and the Epinions community. It’s ‘people also searched for’ function will also be available on the iPhone application, helping consumers find their perfect product easily.

“Consumers are increasingly using their mobiles to help them decide what they want to buy – texting or calling a friend for advice, or to compare products,” says Bjorn Kvarby, European MD, Shopping.com. “Helping consumers solve the ‘what to buy’ dilemma on a daily basis, our new iPhone app is another tool to ensure shoppers have all the relevant information at hand before purchasing.”

The shopping.com iPhone app is compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch, and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
