Online sales up 91% at House of Fraser

House of Fraser has reported online sales up 91% on a year ago in its Christmas trading statement. Overall sales for the eight weeks to 2 January were up 7.1% on a like-for-like basis.

The boom in online sales was helped by a 50% increase in the brands offered online, the department store chain explains. Cosmetics, knitwear and boots were the most in demand items.

“We are particularly pleased with our performance over this key trading period, which has continued a trend of improved performance within the business over the year,” says John King, chief executive officer of House of Fraser.

“The growth of our online business has been encouraging, as has the performance of our many House brands,” he added. “It was pleasing that we had our biggest ever Christmas week and Boxing Day, with some of our stores, such as Oxford Street, experiencing their strongest ever performance.”
