Microsoft-owned shopping community Ciao has improved its mobile offering following a 200% surge in mobile access to its service since January 2009. Growth has come from across the seven European locations Ciao operates in, namely Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden.

The new optimised offering enables users of most smartphone handsets to take Ciao in their pocket, getting the most competitive deals whilst out on the high street and reading thousands of user reviews wherever they may be.

The update has just launched in the UK and is expected to be rolled out in all Ciao countries over the coming six months and additional functionality is also expected.

Commenting on the announcement, Sebastian Roehrich, Group Manager of Ciao Commerce Division said: “From the staggering uptake that we have experienced since our initial launch last year, it’s clear that consumers are increasingly using their mobile to make purchasing decisions. We want to empower the user by giving them all of the information that they need to make the right decision, wherever they may be.”

Roehrich continued: “We constantly strive to innovate in the market and offer a proposition that adds real value to the shopping experience through offering both transparency on pricing and access to thousands of user reviews.”
