Aldi is doubling the size of its Deliveroo trial, which delivers groceries on demand in as little as half an hour, from 20 shops to 42.
The trial has to date been operating out of shops in London, Greater Manchester, Cambridge and the Midlands since the early summer and is now being extended to 22 more shops in towns including Liverpool, Bristol and Brighton.
Shoppers living within 6km of those shops can choose from a range of 400 grocery items for delivery by Deliveroo riders in as little as 30 minutes, placing their orders via the Deliveroo app.
Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, said: “The feedback on our trial with Deliveroo has been very positive so far, with customers really valuing being able to have more ways of getting Aldi’s quality food at unbeatable prices, as recently recognised by Which? who found a basket of items was 23% cheaper at Aldi than at Tesco.
“This extension takes the partnership into new areas for the first time, including cities like Bristol and Liverpool amongst dozens of others across the country.”
If it continues to prove successful, the Deliveroo service could be extended to more stores across the UK in the coming weeks.

Aldi, ranked Top500 in RXUK Top500 research, has moved fast to introduce new online services since the Covid-19 pandemic encouraged more grocery shoppers to buy via the internet and forced many to shield from the virus. It is currently rolling out click and collect after successfully trialling the service in the Midlands, and has said it will invest more than £1bn in its store network and innovations such as this by next year.
