Asos and DPD collaborate on new delivery innovation
Asos customers can now choose exactly when they would like their parcels to be delivered, thanks to the latest innovation to emerge from its partnership with DPD.

The new Precise service means that when Asos shoppers get notification of their next-day one-hour delivery slot from carrier DPD, they can now choose either to accept that slot or choose the exact day and hour they'd like to receive their item, at any time over the next seven days, between 11am and 5pm.

Matt Rogers, of Asos, a Leading retailer in IRUK Top500 research where it is highly rated for strategy and innovation, said: "Precise is another first for ASOS and a huge leap forward on our customer focused delivery proposition. Our customers love getting their deliveries quickly and tell us they want control and choice over how and when their parcels arrive. Precise gives them exactly that.

"Working with DPD allows us to keep improving the delivery experience for our customers and staying competitive in the marketplace"

The development is the latest innovation for an established partnership that has worked to make delivery as convenient as possible. That's particularly important for a pureplay retailer such as Asos. The two have previously worked together to introduce services such as the Follow My Parcel delivery tracking solution, and an early warning delivery service that enabled customers to change their mind about where their parcel would be delivered the night before it arrived.

Dwain McDonald, chief executive of DPD , said: "Working closely with great retailers like ASOS means we are constantly tuned in to what consumers want and that helps us invest in technology and develop the kinds of services online retailers really value. I think Precise gives ASOS a real advantage at a time when all retailers are looking to innovate in the delivery space and wow customers.

"We're focused on making parcel delivery as ‘personal' as possible by using the best technology available to put customers in complete control of their deliveries. Giving customers timely information they can really use and a great choice of delivery options is genuinely liberating."

In May, DPD launched the Your DPD app which enables customers to set their own delivery preferences including the ability to request that drivers always avoid certain times of the day, such as the school run. Your DPD uses geo-location based technology to alert the DPD driver when an app user returns home. If a parcel couldn't be successfully delivered earlier in the day, the driver can then make another delivery before they finish their round.
