UPS joins up Access Points network to offer cross-border collection options
UPS is joining up its network of collection points to offer European retailers, including those in the UK, cross-border delivery to a pick-up point as an alternative to home delivery.

The delivery company said this week that retailers in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain could now ship online orders to UPS Access Point locations in any of those countries. The network’s 2,600 UK locations typically include newsagents and convenience stores.

UK consumers can opt to have their home delivery parcels redirected to a UPS collection point for same-day collection, while customers in any of the countries can also use UPS Access Points to return goods.

"This additional service addresses the results of our 2013 Pulse of the Online Shopper survey in which consumers indicated that they want more control over when and where their purchases are delivered, and a convenient returns process”, said Paul Marks, director of sales, UPS UK. “Additionally, it contributes to our sustainability efforts by reducing the number of return trips a driver needs to make to an address, which lowers carbon emissions."

The UPS Access Point network has more than 12,000 locations in seven European markets, including 2,600 in the UK and has also been introduced in Canada.
