Black Friday: Update 1 at 6:30am – IRUK Top100
InternetRetailing Research brings you regular updates that name the IRUK Top100 websites that are managing peak traffic most effectively over the Black Friday weekend.
This weekend InternetRetailing Research, in collaboration with our knowledge partner NCC Group , is testing, on an hourly basis, the Top100 websites' Speed Index
on both mobile and desktop devices.
Benchmark: Three weeks ago, on a more normal weekend for ecommerce, we conducted hourly tracking of the Top100 websites to record a benchmark. Today's hourly tests are each compared to the relevant benchmark. We then average each website's hourly variance from its benchmark to find the top lists over the given time periods described below.
In a nutshell: The websites we're listing here are the best performers today in the Top100 where 'best performance' is relative to each website's performance on a normal weekend.
Top Retailers: Midnight to 6am – mobile device
The best mobile website experience relative to each website's normal weekend performance was delivered by Office, Boohoo.com, and JD Sports over the six-hour period to 6am. Debenhams, Mothercare, Monsoon, Footasylum, Lakeland, The Perfume Shop, and Zara round out the top 10 mobile sites by this measure.
Top Retailers: Midnight to 6am – desktop device
The best desktop website experience relative to each website's normal weekend performance was delivered byZara, Office, and Mothercare over the six-hour period to 6am. French Connection, River Island, Footasylum, Boohoo.com, Thorntons, Jack Wills, and Homebase round out the top 10 desktop sites by this measure.
Sector Analysis: Midnight to 6am – mobile device
The best-performing retail sectors this Black Friday, as measured by how fast their mobile websites are relative to a normal weekend, are theFootwear Sector, Children's Goods Sector, and Business Goods Sector. The sectors whose websites are slowest, by the same metric, are the Accessories Sector, Grocery Sector, and Home, Garden & DIY Sector.
Sector Analysis: Midnight to 6am – desktop device
The best-performing retail sectors this Black Friday, as measured by how fast their desktop websites are relative to a normal weekend, are the Business Goods Sector, Footwear Sector, and Children's Goods Sector. The sectors whose websites are slowest, by the same metric, are the Department Store Sector, General & Other Goods Sector, Sports & Leisure Sector, and Consumer Electronics Sector.
