In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re in optimistic mood, buoyed by reports that leading retailers are expanding at home and abroad, online and through new stores, to meet the changing way that consumers want to buy.
And that change is coming fast: this week we report on a digital tipping point as sales from mobile devices overtake those from desktops and laptops, and our IRX 2016 preview focuses on the Connected Store of the Future Conference, geared towards informing retailers as they adapt to shopper behaviour.
Traders of all sizes are responding, according to studies out this week. Smaller retailers are looking to Europe and beyond for ecommerce expansion, while larger ones are planning to open new stores, with the UK a key target. This expansion comes at a cost, however, with retailers now rethinking their strategies of cheap fulfilment as they look to offer profitable customer service, in other findings.
Today’s guest comment comes from Srinath Sridar of Wipro, as he considers ways that retailers might turbo-charge personalisation.
