We may be three months on from Black Friday but retailers are still feeling the effect of the phenomenon. This week AO World, which runs the ao.com website, blamed factors including the ‘adverse effects of Black Friday’ as it warned on profits and saw its share price tumble as a result. In the delivery industry, however, it seems businesses have now put what has been dubbed the ‘retail tsunami’ of that day had behind them. The IMRG MetaPack eRetail Delivery Index for January suggests logistics businesses have moved on and are now anticipating delivering more than a billion parcels on behalf of online retailers this year.

Todya we also report on Intu Properties as it puts the focus on ‘digital’ and ‘destinations’ in order to help its shopping centres compete in a multichannel world. Meanwhile, Office Depot says its online conversion rates have improved by 3%, adding up to a potential £2.5m improvement in annual revenues, following the introduction of personalisation technology.

In our IRX 2015 preview today we look at how retailers are moving from social media to social commerce. Our guest comment comes from Nick Pinson of iWeb Solutions and considers what retailers need to do to prepare to accept Bitcoin.
