Royal Mail rolls out in-flight options across UK

DeliveryX

Royal Mail has added in-flight options to its delivery service as a bid to offer greater flexibility for customers.
Customers receiving a delivery via the Royal Mail Tracked service will be sent a notification including an estimated time window and access to the in-flight options.

The customer can then request items be left in a safe place or delivered to a neighbour if they are not going to be available for a scheduled delivery. Once the parcel has been left Royal Mail will notify when and where the parcel was left, including a photograph.

The roll-out across the UK follows a successful pilot in the south east of England.

The company said it plans to add further in-flight options later this year.

Nick Landon, chief commercial officer at Royal Mail, said: “At Royal Mail we are proud to help our UK customers stay connected during these challenging times. Inflight delivery options have been the number one ask from our sending customers in e-commerce.

“Giving customers the option to specify where their parcels are delivered – in the event they are not at home to receive them – is just one of the ways we are helping to bring greater convenience to the lives of our customers.”
