Royal Mail-owned logistics firm GLS claims it has reached carbon neutrality in its German operations.
The company has been using electricity generated from renewables across its over 70 locations in the country since 1 October.
GLS is using around 100 e-vehicles such as bikes and scooters in over 20 projects in Germany. It is also offsetting any emissions generated through afforestation projects.
Martin Seidenberg, CEO of GLS Germany, said: “With GLS KlimaProtect, we are sending out a clear signal for environmental protection.
“The switch to 100 percent green electricity is another component of our KlimaProtect program and supports us in our goal of compensating and avoiding emissions.”
In the 2018 to 2019 financial year GLS transported 634 million parcels and achieved a turnover of €3.3 billion.
